Humane’s AI Pin- Alternative for Smartphones?

Humane is a technology-oriented business founded by two former Apple executives- Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno. The Humane team has recently created the AI Pin, a revolutionary wearable device. The AI Pin is a small, lightweight gadget that employs a combination of sensors, projectors, and AI technology to present to you the variety of features and options.

The AI Pin is made up of two parts: a small square piece and a battery pack that may be magnetically attached to your garments or other surfaces. The device is available in three different colors: Eclipse, Equinox, and Lunar. It has a screen along with a tiny projector that can beam laser icons and text onto the user's palm.

The AI Pin device can capture images and send texts, employs a laser to project a visual interface and includes a virtual assistant as efficient as ChatGPT. It is intended to reduce and perhaps even cease reliance on smartphones by always being ready to search the web and interact.

As per Humane, the device will be able to draft and send messages to specific people based on one’s prompts which can be altered later as well. One can also ask the device to search up his or her chat with someone for a particular piece of information needed at that time.

Not only that, but the user can show a bowl of food to its ultra wide camera and retrieve information relating to the nutritional and calorie content. This way, it acts as a food and health tracker in addition to fulfilling a dozen other roles that aren’t in a smartphone’s capability. The Pin's virtual assistant aims to surpass other assistants by composing messages in the user's tone of voice, and offers a "Catch Me Up" feature that summarises cluttered email inboxes .

The AI Pin, which runs on the Cosmos OS, makes use of generative AI tools from ChatGPT and Bing. It's a powerhouse on a tiny pin, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, motion sensors, a 13 MP camera, and more. The $24/month subscription plan is initially restricted to T-Mobile in the United States, with pre-orders beginning on November 16 and delivery early next year.

The founder, Imran Chaudhri said in a statement,

"Ai Pin is the embodiment of our vision to integrate AI into the fabric of daily life, enhancing our capabilities without overshadowing our humanity,"

Humane regards the AI Pin as the beginning of something bigger. The company hopes for its product to improve in the same way that smartphones did, but the true innovation lies in the things that can be done with the device. Although more work is needed, Humane appears to be eager to get started.
