NHTSA issues over 140000 vehicle recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration(NTHSA) issued a recall of over 140000 vehicles including Ford, Toyota, and Acura.

Due to issues with the energy intake valves which would increase risks of engine failure, Ford announced a recall of over 90000 cars. Some of the cars include the 2021-2022 models of the Bronco, Edge, Explorer and F-150. Further, Lincoln announces a recall due to similar reasons for their 2021-2022 Aviator and Nautilus models.

Toyota recalls more than 40000 of its 2023-2024 Sequoia Hybrid SUVs due to tow hitch covers which have been attached to the rear bumper. Reports suggest that the cover may come loose and detach from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Acura is recalling over 41000 vehicles of its 2024 Acura electric SUVs due to unexpected activation of the car’s anti-lock braking system(ABS) which may release brake pressure in the vehicle’s service brake system. The vehicles may exhibit overly sensitive anti-lock breaking system events in certain cases at below 25 mph on dry surfaces, the Honda owned company

said in a NHTSA report.

In these conditions, if the ABS falsely activates and a specific sequence of wheel movements occur, the vehicle’s ABS system will continue to release braking pressure, which can reduce stopping performance or the service brakes can become inoperative, increasing the risk of a crash.
