It has been 1 year since the last major Covid-19 wave in India which was in January 2022. Since the omicron variant's end, many experts predicted the end of the pandemic. Since then, many governments around the world started treating this disease as a normal medical condition and therefore brought back the conditions which were pre-2020.
Recently though, India has witnessed a rapid surge in the no. of cases. On 13th April 2023, there were 10,000+ cases which were 'reported' and there could possibly be more. This has brought the no. of active cases to nearly 45 thousand. This recent surge has been caused by the new variant 'Arcturus'. Many doctors and medical professionals have warned of new features in this variant which could cause conjunctivitis in kids. Some state governments have even considered bringing back masks but as of now, the government hasn't taken any significant step to curb the new 'possible wave'.
